We had a really great weekend!
Friday after I got home we went to the hospital to see our nephew. That was the first day that he was finally getting bored and maybe a little hungry. We laughed a lot and just goofed off. He was finally able to come home yesterday (sunday) afternoon. After 6 days in the hospital I know that they are all so glad to be back home and in their own beds. His parents stayed with him the entire time. Thank you so much for your prayers! He still has pain but is released to go back to school whenever he feels like he can. After a week in bed and a stomach virus before that he made need a few days to get his strength back.
Saturday I decided to tackle a huge obstacle that's been hanging over me. When something gets overwhelming for me I tend to just ignore it and put it off. Well I've sorta had enough of that in my life. I'm trying and praying that I can overcome that in my life. So Saturday I chose my biggest thing to tackle first and maybe that would motivate me to do smaller things. Kinda backwards I know but that's how I operate.
I started on my taxes!! Well there is more involved in that than just taxes. You see I have a home business (Mary Kay Cosmetics) and I file long form. Well all year long I've been saving bills, receipts, etc for tax purposes. I've been saving them in a huge pile that includes usefull and non usefull stuff that I just didn't know what to do with (filing in my filing cabinet would have been wise I'm sure). So Saturday I went into my MK room where my desk is and my mountain that I was determined to conquer. I just started with whatever was in front of me ... sorting into piles mostly. Things I need right now, bills (by category of whatever they were), MK related stuff, etc, etc, etc. After a couple of hours of this we both got ready to go into town and have dinner & get groceries.
Sunday after breakfast I cleaned up around the main part of the house a little but realized I was putting off going back into the room and finish what I started. I seriously just stopped what I was doing and went right back in there and got busy. I think after another hour I was finished sorting and pulled out everything that involved taxes. Normally if I had gotten this far (probably wouldn't have happened) I would have started sorting credit card statments and organizing files but I told myself that I wasn't really concerned with those at this immediate time. I brought in my laptop and opened up my spreadsheet from last year to start recording info.
I'm really so proud of myself! All that I have left to do is go over my inventory (which I failed to do Jan 1st), go over my orders for the year and put them in order, and look up a few other things and I'm DONE!! Tonight we are having sub sandwiches so that I don't have to cook and can finish this up hopefully tonight!
After our taxes are filed I do plan on finishing all my other piles and finally get a system going on so that this does not happen to me AGAIN next year. (This isn't the first time I've had to do this).
I hope everyone has a great Monday! It sure is beautiful here in East Texas!
