This past weekend went by so fast. Saturday I spent a few hours with my mom while my step-dad went to their grandson's birthday party. She didn't want to be alone for several hours because she has trouble getting up and down with the broken ribs. Not to mention that she's still pretty dizzy if she moves to fast because of the head injury. She is doing much better but still in a lot of pain. She said as swelling goes down she feels more pain in places she didn't realize were hurt.
My sister is almost fully recovered as far as pain but it will take a while for all the scratches and bruises to go away.
Thank you for the prayers everyone!
As of right now Adam doesn't have to work ANY overtime this weekend! I'm so happy! He was in a pretty good mood yesterday evening and this morning. Hopefully nothing breaks at work and it will stay that way.

God Is Amazing
Wednesday seemed to be a normal day. Adam went to bed early around 6pm because he had to go in early the next morning. I got dinner finished up and was watching So You Think You Can Dance when I got the most dreaded call in the world. My step-dad called to tell me that my Mom had been in a motorcycle accident and that I needed to get to the hospital. At that time he didn't know how bad she was. I busted into the bedroom, scaring Adam to death, and threw on clothes, grabbed my purse, and was gone.
I got to the ER and found what I thought was the room my mom was in only to discover it was my sister laying on that bed. I was shocked because I didn't realize she was in the wreck too. She looked good so I asked about my mom and was told she was in the next room.
Words cannot even describe seeing my mom covered in blood laying there. I didn't even recognize her. I can't get the image of her at that moment out of my head.
From what we have pieced together her & my sister were on their new Trike. She lost control going around a curve, went down into a ditch, and through a barbed wire fence. The bike didn't flip but threw both of them off in different directions.
My sister was wearing a helmet which I'm very sure saved her life after seeing the scratches on it. She has bruised ribs and a small broken bone in her shoulder. They went through a bunch of vines and thorns so she is pretty scratched up all over her legs and waist.
My mom wasn't wearing a helmet. They are guessing that the barbed wire hit her in the head. She has a laceration about 6inches long above her forhead. They found metal shavings in her skull. The dr said that the scrape in her skull is so deep that an eighth of an inch more would have killed her. Do you know how tiny an eighth of an inch is!!!! She also has 2 broken ribs and a gash inside her lip that had to be stitched. Her body is black and blue pretty much from head to toe. She has some pretty bad abrasions on her face.
I have thanked God a hundred times for taking care of them. It's amazing to me that God is big but he was present in this moment of time to protect that eighth of an inch in my mom's skull to save her life. I'm just in awe of God's presence and so thankful.
Please keep them both in your prayers. It's going to be a LONG recovery but they were both released that night ... well the next morning.

Totally Addicted
Adam told me the other day that he has decided I'm totally obsessed with Twilight. I just laughed and said What took you so long to figure THAT out!
I admit it. I'm totally addicted to anything that has to do with Twilight or any of the cast. I've seen them all on Leno last week and this week. Jimmy Kimmel will be on my DVR in the morning to watch his "Total Eclipse of the Heart" special. It's not that I'm obsessed with the fantasy, the vampires, or werewolves. It's all about the story. Bella is a character that is so easy to relate to and her love story is so special. I'll never forget how I felt the first time I read the series (or the second or third time either). I just can't wait to see what scenes make it from the book to the movie... especially for the 4th book that will be broken into two movies. My friend and I have all speculated at what part in the book they will break the movie at. The anticipation is crazy! And we have a whole 17 months to wait!
My favorite website for all things Twilight is bellaandedward.com. All the trailers are there, all the interviews, and all the juicy info I just HAVE to know. I'm now following them on twitter as well as the owner of the site and love getting the play by play on what's going on in LA for tomorrows premiere. I entered every contest I could to win tickets. It would be so awesome to be camped out there right now. Well I say that. 3 days without a shower would start to suck around day 1 1/2.
Anyways ... for anyone else that's totally obsessed here's the countdown!
Tomorrow is the LA premier at the Nokia Theater.
7 days until the worldwide premier.
9 days until I get to see it on the big screen myself! *Insert high pitched squeals here*

Our weekend went by so fast!
Friday Adam had to go to bed early so that he could go in to work early on Saturday so we didn't really do anything that night. Saturday morning I went with his mom, sisters, & grandmother to the farmers market. We didn't walk around too much because it was so hot but they had a flea market section and I found a 1950s bowl that matches one of my Nana's that I now have.
Adam was able to get off work a few hours before the car show started so he rested for about an hour and then we went to help set up. It was SOOOOO HOOTTTT. I wouldn't have survived it if we didn't have fans blowing on us. Whenever I had to stand in line to get water it made the shade seem cold because we had to stand in the sun.
Sunday we were pretty lazy. I really wasn't feeling good ... maybe from too much heat. I called my Dad to tell him Happy Father's Day and we walked over to his parents to tell Adam's dad Happy Father's Day. Definately my least favorite holiday and glad it's over for the year. I love my Dad because he's my Dad and he's my family but sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to grow up with a Dad who acted like a normal Dad. I always wondered what it would be like to be a Daddy's girl.
I hope, if we ever have kids, we have a little girl so that she can be a Daddy's girl! :)
Well Adam is back to his 3am to 3pm shift today and tomorrow. Hopefully the whole week won't be like that! He's in a pretty good mood so far this week because he's been so busy that the days have gone by quickly for him. I pray that it stays the same for tomorrow's long shift!

TGIF!
To say it's been one a heck of a week doesn't even begin to cover it! I haven't felt good at all this week. I think the 1st month after a D&C should be called HELL. I've been worried about how things would go after the D&C as far as my normal monthly cycle since I'm also now off of birth control pills. I started on my normal day but that's about all that was normal about it. I have been SOO exhausted that I can't even function. Between fatigue and just not getting enough sleep it's been a rough week. Thank you Jesus that I'm sorta back to normal.
Added on top of that is Adam's crazy work schedule / bad mood from the heat which has made for a less than pleasant week. He was able to only work 8hr shifts the past two days but is working 12 hours today and then back to work at 5am in the morning.
We are doing a car show tomorrow evening at 5pm so hopefully he'll be able to get off and get some rest before then. His brother-in-law's band is playing and since he's their sound guy he needs to be there to run the sound and keep things in working order. I PRAY he gets off early and doesn't have to work 12 hrs again. He really needs the rest!
We don't really have much planned this weekend other than the car show. I'm sure Sunday will be a lazy day for us to get caught up and ready for the new week.
Have a great weekend!

Searching For God Knows What (Book Review)
I have recently finished reading “Searching For God Knows What” by Donald Miller. Normally it would take a few days to a week to finish a book this size but I have been really stuck on this one for some reason. I don’t think it’s the actual message that is a turn off for me but just the writing style. I questioned some of the book on whether it was true but I’m far from being able to tell it if it is or not. Sometimes I didn’t know if he was agreeing or disagreeing with himself and I just felt a bit lost. I feel that as someone who is beginning a journey of studying the bible and doesn’t know a lot about it that this was just over my head at the moment. I hope to come back to it one day and reread it with a new perspective. From reviews I’ve read there is a lot of praise for this book mixed with a lot of criticism. I do suggest reading it for yourself to see if it’s your kind of book.
This is the book description from the publisher Thomas Nelson:
“New York Times best-selling author Donald Miller explores the origin and meaning of redemption in this fully revised and redesigned bestseller.”
“Hysterically funny, wryly provocative, and disquietingly insightful, Searching for God Knows What invites readers to examine their deep need for redemption, to feel it, know it, and live like it is true in their lives.”
“Miller weaves phenomenal characters and true-to-life spectacles into his acclaimed memoir style to enrich, inspire, entertain, and ultimately challenge readers to see life in a new way. He shows that one of the greatest desires of every person is the desire for redemption, to have brokenness repaired. Instead of the chaotic relationships, self-hatred, wreckless consumerism, and anxiety that overrun a life without redemption, Miller uncovers the beauty and power of the Gospel to fulfill one of our deepest needs.”

MAIN POST FOR TODAY BELOW!
Not a Fan of 12hr Shifts
Adam is working 12s again all this week which sucks but I'm very thankful that he's not on the 3am to 3pm shift like last week. I like the 7 to 7 much better. We get to spend a little bit of time together in the mornings and then about an hour or so in the evenings before bed. Last week I was RUSHING home to see him for about 15 minutes before we he went to bed and this week I'm actually able to go at my normal speed to get home, get dinner made, and clean up the house a bit before he gets home.
We are praying that next week he can go back to his regular schedule. If not he will be back to 3 - 3 again. I suppose the money side will be good with 20 hours of overtime but is it worth it? No. He's so exhausted and grumpy that it's definately not worth it if it was a choice. I'm sure that it's all for a reason though and God has it all planned out. Maybe we'll need that extra money soon.
Since I have a bit of free time ... well spare time anyways in the afternoons I have several projects to get done around my house this week. Nothing major just stuff I'm behind on...

Jesus
Today over @ Kelly's Corner she posted a post title Jesus. Please take a minute to read it if you haven't already.
I catch myself worrying about what I write sometimes for the same reason. What will people think? Will I offend anyone? But more than that I worry that the things I think and all the wonderful thoughts in my head will not transfer properly to my finger tips and to the page people are reading. I judge myself before others ever have the chance and therefore I don't put myself out there and share all that I want to and SHOULD share. I'm ashamed of the fact that I even question myself about whether or not to share about the LORD because of course I should share my thoughts and feelings.
It's weird (or maybe not so weird) that this has come up today because this morning as I was reading a book by Max Lucado this same thought came to me. Why do I not share more about Jesus than I do? Why do I not put myself out there?
My prayer is that I will be a better representation of God. Not only in blog world but also in my everyday life. I want my legacy to be how I loved the Lord with all of my soul and how everything I did glorified Him in some way.
Please let me know your thoughts on this and if you have ever struggled with these issues.

Volumize!
I don't normally talk about products I use or make recomendations because ... well I don't know why but I just haven't. Today though I want to share something new that I LOVE!!
I have very fine oily hair that refuses to do anything but be flat and straight with the exception to a kink I have on the left side. My daily routine involves washing, mouse, root lifter, stratigic blow drying, straightening, and a bunch of hair spray. I don't typically change up products because I have sensitive skin and my scalp is the worst part. I've used the same VERY EXPENSIVE shampoo for at least the past 5 years. Luckily it lasts about 6 months at $24. Anyways, my life has been changed.......
I've seen the commercials for the new Pantene Flat to Volume line but didn't want to take the chance on a psorisis outbreak that happens when I change shampoos. Well while I was at wal-mart Monday I decided to take the plunge and waste my $3 to try it. I got both the shampoo and the hairspray. So far I'm on my 4th day using the shampoo with no problems skin wise and my hair is freakin awesome! Like TV commercial volume! I'm in love with a shampoo people! Now the hairspray I will be returning though. It was like spraying glue in my hair. It definately holds it but made my hair very sticky. I'll stick with my Tresemee hairspray that is workable:
So I thought it would be cool to see if anyone wants to share what products they use. Here is what else I use:

Flooding
It's raining like CRAZY here in East Texas. I can't remember the last time we had a page of road closures on the paper's website. We went straight from drought to flood in less than 24hrs!
Adam has been working 12 hr shifts all of this week and will continue through tomorrow. It really puts a strain on the happiness of our home. We get a bit grouchy when we aren't around each other and right now we only see each other for about 30 minutes each day (not counting sleep time of course). When I get up he's gone and he goes to bed after I get home. Pretty sucky. Hopefully this will be the only week though.
We are still worried that he may get moved to 2nd shift (3pm to 11pm) because a guy on that shift quit and Adam has the least seniority on the 1st shift. We are praying that they hire someone else rather than move him. We would really never see each other then. I'm usually in bed by 9pm and up at 5am.
Well on to more uplifting topics....
Has anyone else read the new Twilight Saga book by Stephanie Meyer "The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner"? If not you must read it before seeing Eclipse. It's REALLY good and it's very cool to get the story from another perspective. It's very short at only 192 pages so it won't take long to read. I started re-reading the series last week and stopped reading Eclipse right before the Newborns attacked and then read the Bree Tanner book. Then when I picked back up in Eclipse it was really great to have that inside information! This is my 3rd time through the series (in less than a year).
The release of Eclipse is a highly talked about subject in our office LOL. One co-worker is going to the midnight showing and the rest of us are going on Saturday (must be great to be a teenager LOL) as well as my mom & sister. Every new preview clip & trailer that is posted online (almost daily now) we are salivating over. I think we will have the whole movie watched before it's even released!

Garden Pictures & Lexi
More Pictures!
I was inspire by Lucy @ Lucy's Life to post some pictures of our Garden. Now by no means did I even help with this garden so I'm not sure what everything is but I'll do my best :) This garden belongs to Adam and his dad so they plant and take care of it. I help with the harvesting, blanching, & freezing. The pictures a little dark because the sun was going down but you get the idea.
The first end we have Brussle Sprouts (I believe) and either Pumpkins or Watermelon. I can't remember which my father-in-law said.
Corn (YUM YUM!)
Adam's Beans (Green Beans)
Inside the garden (Peppers, Onions, Tomatos, etc)
Another shot of his incredibly tall bean stalks!
This one has gotten so big it's now going back DOWN the wood.
Now a couple of pictures of my baby girl.
So sweet!

Pictures!
It seems that I have been a little out of the loop lately. Life has just been blissfully crazy. Nothing really exciting just normal everyday wonderfullness. I have some pictures to share as promised in my last post. I FINALLY remembered to bring my USB cable to work with me!
About a month or so ago this is what was outside my office window:
A bunch of baby birds crammed in this itty bitty nest. When I was gone having surgery they all flew away and I was so sad :(.
Well look what's outside my window this week:
More baby birds are on the way! Mommy and Daddy bird have been sitting on eggs all week! I didn't realize these little birds layed so many eggs!
~*~
These are from our Memorial Day party. Our redneck slip-n-slide LOL. It started out oh so Innocent with 2 slides and some plastic.
Then someone suggest spraying dishwashing liquid on it so Adam mixed up some in a spray bottle (Quickly evolved to squirting the full strength stuff right on the slides... Pretty sudsy!
Then my father-in-law brought out the Crisco cookspray and greased down the slides and sliders!
It was a blast!
Sliding one or two at a time wasn't daring enough so someone (ME) suggested actually launching people down the slide! Everyone had to take a turn doing that!
Then Adam decided that since we were launching people that we needed more plastic... I heard the grass, rocks, and dirt was a bit rough.
So this is what a redneck slip-n-slide looks like! By the way the cardboard underneath makes you slide even faster!

A few more pics of my nephew.

Fun Times
I've been procrastinating a post because I have a bunch of pictures to share but they are STUCK on my camera. For some reason my memory card will not work in my computer and I forgot my USB cable today :(. So tomorrow will be full of pictures.... PROMISE.
Anyways it's been a crazy weekend/week so far. Friday my nephew Jaiden Thomas was born via emergency c-section. He ended up trying to come out arm first... silly boy... then he had some issues with his heart rate. By the time my brother got in to the OR the baby was almost out. The umbilical cord was wrapped loosely around his neck twice and this could have been what was causing the issues. Thankfully no damage or side effects though. Both mom and baby were doing great.
Saturday morning I rode up to the hospital with my mom & sister. It was amazing to hold that tiny little baby and know that he was a part of me. Not directly of course but he is my family. Although I have neices and nephews from my step sister and Adam's sister this was different for me. He's the most beautiful baby I've ever seen. OH I just remember I took a picture with my phone:
ADORABLE!
While I was at the hospital Adam had a major migraine. I felt so bad that I wasn't there for him but got home as quick as possible. It lasted from about 9am (while he was at work) until about 3pm. Luckily he got off at 11am from work and was able to come home. He was able to keep some food down and started feeling pretty good. His brother-in-law's band was playing that night and a local club and we really wanted to go see them. Adam is their sound guy and he helps them set-up and pack-up so I figured we would only stay to set-up. Well he started feeling much better and we ended up staying the whole time. It was some crazy fun. I'll post some pics of that tomorrow. We finally got into bed by 3am!
Sunday we were pretty lazy. We did some grocery shopping and had dinner in town.
Monday we had some friends over for hot dogs and the "adults" got a bit crazy with the slip-n-slide. Last year we purchased a small normal slip-n-slide for the kids but ended up being for the adults. Well this year my sister-in-law purchased a bigger one that we put at the end of the small one. THEN Adam put 2 or 3 pieces of plastic at the end of that. By the time they were through modifing it it became a 20ft slip-n-slide with a pool at the end! I was the picture taker and it was hilarious. The put dishwashing liquid on all the plastic and my father-in-law had the idea of spraying everyone down with crisco cooking spray. Let's just say things got a little rough. There were a few back, shoulder, and side injuries. Adam's abs and back are STILL hurting! It was a blast though!
