I found a new site to share.  I think I may be a little behind in this though.  Most of you have heard of paperbackswap.com I believe.  I've seen it around the blogosphere several times but couldn't fathom giving up some of my books.  Well my mom sent me the link and I investigated it a little bit.  Yesterday I posted 10 books that I didn't mind giving up (mostly because they are murder mysteries I will never read).  Already I have ordered the first 2 books in the Harry Potter series and received a request for one of mine that I'm mailing out today!  I'm totally hooked now!

I finished the Hobbitt yesterday.  It was really good and I got a little teary at the end.  I don't think I'm going to contiue with the Lord of the Rings series though.  Just not that interested at the moment.  I'm currently reading "Cast of Characters" by Max Lucado (Thank you booksneeze).  It's really awesome and I definately recomend checking it out.  Once I'm done I'll post my review but that may be a bit because I'm reading it slowly and between other books.

I have a couple of knitting projects that I want to work on but who knew buying yarn was so dang expensive!  How can you buy a blanket at wal-mart for $10 but it takes $50 in yarn to make one yourself?  I know mass production right?  I'm looking for some good deals on the net and can hopefully make something soon.

Some of Adam's relatives are flying in from CA today so hopefully we'll get to visit with them a little this evening and of course more on Saturday evening.  Just realized that today is actually Thursday and not Friday which kinda sucks :(.  Oh well another day in paradise right?!

Have a great THURSDAY!

Weekend

We had a great weekend but it just went by way to quickly.  Friday we drove around to a few car lots because Adam thinks I should get a new car.... probably won't happen because I will not budge an inch on the monthly payments and refuse to pay more than I pay now.

Saturday a friend that now lives in Arkansas came down to visit for the day.  We had some lunch, hung out with friends, went bowling, played pool, and watched a funny movie back at our house.  It was so much fun to get to catch up and I know Adam has really been missing his friend!  It's been a year I think since he's been down.

Sunday we went out to eat breakfast at our favorite breakfast place, The Egg & I.  Not sure if these are a national chain or not but they are YUMMY YUMMY!!  A little pricey for breakfast food in my opinion but so worth it (About $18 for me & Adam).  I wanted to go buy the used book store but they were closed :(.  We went to Michaels because I was looking for a circular knitting needle and some yarn and they didn't have anything I was looking for.  Adam wanted to go to a new tool place that just opened so we wandered around in there for HOURS  a little bit and then went to Barnes & Noble next door.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place but don't venture in to often because I would be in bankruptcy if I shopped in there too much.

I've been wanting to get the Harry Potter series & the Narnia series so I thought I would see if they had them on any of the bargain shelves.  No such luck.  The Narnia series was about $60 (not bad for the whole collection I guess) and the Harry Potter books were about $20 ea (more for hardback).  So we looked at some of the bargain stuff and I found a book on Massage.  I've been wanting to get a book to learn more about massage for a while.  Not that I want to start up a business or anything but I massage Adam's back a lot to help with his back pain and I thought it would be cool to learn different ways to help him.  We ended up sitting in a corner on the floor for about 1 - 2 hours going through books.  I finally settled on The Massage Bible which is pretty awesome for only $14.  It's actually pretty interesting to read the different techniques and how to effect the muscles.

I had planned on reading that today while I was at Jury Duty but read The Hobbit instead.  I got dismissed around 11am but I'm almost done with it now.  I don't think I'll be moving on to The Lord Of The Rings because it's just not that interesting to me.  I want to see how this one ends but I'm not excited to continue on this journey.  I'm going to be doing some internet research to try and find the other series books cheap.

Have a great Monday!

Books & Movies

After experiencing the difference in dynamics from the Twilight books to the movies I've decided to go back and read some of the books that are now movies that I've never read.  These are currently on my list:

Lord Of The Rings - I started reading The Hobbit this past weekend and have the trilogy to read as soon as I'm done. I've never seen the movies so I may or may not actually watch those. It depends on how much I like the books.

Harry Potter - I LOVE LOVE LOVE the movies and have never really wanted to read the books because I was afraid they would be to "young" for me.  After seeing how much was left out in the Twilight movies I'm definately wanting to read the series to see what I don't know about it.

I've thought about reading Dear John and The Last Song because those are newer movies that I haven't seen yet but I've heard that they are SO sad. I just watched The Time Travelers Wife and thought it was OK. I had way to many unanswered questions but liked the romance of it.  I wonder if the book is any better?

The only book I've ever read before seeing anything of the movie is Gone With The Wind.  I loved the book and really loved part 2 (Scarlett).  I really didn't like the movie at all.  I mean they left out her children!

Any suggestions on books that are now movies that are a must read?  Would you rather see a movie first or read the book first?

Great Weekend!

We had such a GREAT weekend!  It started off with seeing Eclipse with my sister and my friend / co-worker.  Definately the best of the series so far!

Saturday I cleaned house most of the day to get ready for our party that evening.  Adam and his friends blew things up until dark when they did the real fireworks show.  This is a picture of all the mortar shells (The ones that are big in the sky)
I think our show lasted about an hour this year!  It was awesome!

Sunday we slept in pretty late and the watched Bicentennial Man with Robin Williams. I cried as usual! HAHA!  We had a late dinner with a friend at Cheddars.  We haven't been there in about 4 years since Adam found a "bug" in his soup.  GAG! We decided to brave it since we really only wanted some chicken strips and drinks.  Well of course Adams food got all messed up and he had to wait 15 minutes after we got our for his.  Never fails!  His food always gets messed up.  It was so yummy though!  We had a free dessert that I swear was half of a fudge cake! YUM.

Monday we watched some more movies ... Evan Almighty and Contact.  We went in to town to run some errands.  I was in dire need of a new set of sheets.  My oldest pair bit the dust when Lexi's toenail ripped it down the middle :(.  They were my favorite ones.  Then I talked Adam into taking me to see Eclipse again!  He thinks I'm pretty nuts but oh well!  He actually liked the movie so he wasn't too put out :).

Afterwards we got some groceries and headed home to relax and just do nothing.  It was one of the funnest weekends we have had in a while!

Work is crazy today of course since we were closed yesterday but that's ok.  It makes the day go by REALLY fast!

Have a great Tuesday!

Countdown!

Today is the beginning of an awesome weekend!

My co-worker and I are currently counting down the hours until we see Eclipse after work.  To say that we are super duper (times a billion) excited is a major understatement.  I'm SO excited that my sister is coming with us too!  Our boss is actually letting us off 30 minutes early :).

Tomorrow will be a day filled with cleaning my house and cooking.  The afternoon will be the start of the party though!  We have a bunch of friends & family coming over for our annual fireworks show.  So far Adam has busted his $200 firework budget by $30 and I'm sure he'll sneek off to get more while I'm gone this evening.  His friends will all bring their own as well. I'm so ready for food, girl talk, and watching Adam have a blast doing his show!

We don't really have plans yet for Sunday or Monday but that's just fine!  Taking it easy sounds great!

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
