I promise no more meme posts until next week (Wednesday). I love doing them but they probably aren't that interesting to read.
Tuesday I was watching Good Morning American and realized it was the morning Britney Spears was doing her concert. I was so excited because I've been waiting for it to air. Well I totally forgot to set my DVR before leaving so I had to catch up on it online that day.
Before I get to my reaction of the performance let me start off by saying ... I have always been a HUGE Britney Spears fan. I have been a fan since her very first song came out when I was a young teen and own all but her last CD. I was a fan through the crazy, head shaving, umbrella bashing days. I was a fan when she made a comeback and got her life back in order. Now, I'm STILL a fan and I love her new songs that have come out.
On to the performances. Check them out for youself ... HERE. There were two songs that she performed. OK I know that she lip sings. She always has and I'm ok with that. What I'm having the issue with that is prompting this whole post is her dancing ... or lack of. It's almost like she's afraid to move or she's not comfortable wearing high heels. She just barely moves and her dancing is just not good. All around the internet world I keep reading about how awesome the performance was and how she's better than ever. Uhm, No.
Another thing that has prompted this post is that Britney did an interview with the Morning Mashup on Sirius Hits 1 this week. They were supposed to link the audio on their website but so far I haven't seen it come up. Anyways I only heard about half the interview but she sounded like a complete idiot. Even the DJs were making fun of her after the interview. She just sounded completely spacey and just not with it at all.
I'm still a fan as I said but just not that impressed. For some reason I'm not jumping on the Britney band wagon like I always have. That makes me sad. Have I just now realized she's always been a little nutso? My Britney bubble seems to have been popped.
Something that could be contributing to my harsh critisizm is that lately I try to really appreciate and support artists that work hard for themselves and are in control of their careers. I'm a HUGE Taylor Swift fan. Yes yes I know she can't sing live. I don't care. The girl can write music like nobody else. She seems to be completely grounded and sure of who she is. I think she's a great roll model. I also really like Lady Gaga. I don't agree with a lot of the things she does and she's absolutely bonkers but she is who she is and doesn't operate by other peoples standards. She lives it the way she wants too. At least that's the way I perceive it. I know that who celebrities are in public and who they are in private can be completely different but I take people at face value and don't judge. I just accept and move on.
So there are my totally useless thoughts on the world of pop culture today.
Tell me .... Are you a Britney fan? What about Taylor? Gaga?

Wee Bit Wednesay
Today I am again trying something new! I'm linking up with a new (and great) blog that I've come across. Check it out and link up too!
{one} if you won a trip to Disneyland/world, who would you take with you?
It would just be me and Adam! We have only gone on vacation, just the two of us, once! It would be so fun to go to Disneyland together!
{two} when was the last time you listened to a CD?
Last week. Brad Paisley's CD.
{three} what spice/seasoning is your favorite?
Cinnamon is my favorite! YUM. I also love Italian seasonings.
{four} if you were in a band, what kind of music would you play?
Hmmm ... hard one! It would be cool to be the lead singer/guitar player of a rock band. Like Lzzy Hale from Halestorm!
{five} if you could have personally witnessed one historical event, which one would it be?
I don't think there is really one EVENT that I could say I wish I was present for. There are a couple of Era's that I wish I could visit ... you know when time travel is invented. Medieval - Knights in shining armor and all that, Victorian (maybe a little before) - Cowboys, Indians, Corsets, Big Dresses, etc. Ok, maybe I read too many romance novels!
{six} if you could go back to school, what would you study?
I'm still trying to figure this one out so that I can finish school! If money, family, etc wasn't a factor I would love to open a bakery or restaurant so maybe something related to that.
{seven} if you could go to one sporting event, all expenses paid, which one would you see?
VIP seats at a Drag Racing event! Loved when we went last year!
{eight} do you drive an automatic or a manual?
Automatic
{nine} are you comfortable speaking in front of people?
Nope, I'm still trying to get used to blogging for an audience of followers.
{ten} have you ever experienced an earthquake?
Nope. We don't have many of those here in TX.

20 Questions
Today I'm deviating a little from my normal Meet Me On Monday link up and doing a random 20 questions. Feel free to copy and do this on your blog! Let me know if you do so that I can read your answers!
1. Explain what ended your last relationship?
Actually nothing. I've only ever been in this one relationship and we have been together for 12 1/2 years and married for 5 years. He had never dated before he met me either. Pretty cool not having any exes to worry about.
2. When was the last time you shaved?
This morning.
3. What were you doing this morning at 8 a.m.?
Driving to work. Normally I'm almost to work by 8am but today I was just leaving my house.
4. What were you doing 15 minutes ago?
On hold. Story of my life. Constantly on hold and a phone to my ear.
5. Some things you are excited about?
FEELING BETTER! Today I sound like an old lady that has been chain smoking for 80 years. Other than that I'm excited to maybe have another weekend away next month!
6. What is your favorite flavor of JELL-O?
Cherry!
7. Your prom night, what do you remember about it?
I didn't go to prom. I left public school in the middle of 10th grade so I never had the prom experience. I'm not complaining though. I wasn't much for school dances.
8. Do you have any famous ancestors?
Well my ex-step-dad was related to George Strait ... distant cousins or something HAHA. I remember we did a research paper back in middle school about famous ancestors and I think I wrote about Jesse James ... the outlaw not the motorcycle guy.
9. Last thing received in the mail?
Bills!! The last fun thing I received in the mail was my cake decorating kit back in Feb.
10. How many different beverages have you had today?
Just 1 - Sweet Tea
11. Do you ever leave messages on people’s answering machine?
I do when I'm calling customers. If I trying to reach family or friends I usually just text :)
12. Do you draw your name in the sand when you go to the beach?
Well I've only been to the beach one time and I don't think I drew my name in the sand. We did build a sand castle though!
13. Any plans for Friday night?
It's only Monday! No plans yet.
14. Do you like what the ocean does to your hair?
Well as I stated in #12 I've only been once and I wouldn't say I preferred crusty salt hair to clean hair but I don't guess it was too bad.
15. Have you ever received one of those big tins of 3 different popcorns?
Yes ... unfortunately. I'm not a fan of those. They are usually very stale. Or maybe somebody just regifted one to me that was old HA!
16. Do you re-use towels after you shower?
Yep. I usually use my towel twice before I get a clean one. Adam does the same. I think we both have always done that so we figured there was no reason to change. Plus I really hate laundry so this is a plus!
17. Describe your keychain(s)?
Let me dig my keys out .... I don't have anything fancy so I can't remember what's there. Let's see ... other than keys there is a top of a flashlight thingy that used to be attached to my key ring. Discount tags - Brookshires, Pets Mart, Pet Co, CVS, & Trade Secret. I have two rings. One for my car key because it's the big clunky kind plus I don't like giving my whole set of keys to someone when I get my oil changed or something. The other has my tags and my home and work keys.
18. Where do you keep your change?
I mostly keep it in my car. I have a little drawer to the left of my steering wheel that's pretty cool. I also have one of those big daquiri hour glass shaped cups (like 2 ft tall) that I put change in at home.
19. When was the last time you spoke in front of a large group of people?
Uhm ... No idea really. I don't generally speak in front of large groups of people.
20. What kind of winter coat do you own?
I have a black leather jacket with pink silk lining and a black wool coat that is oh so warm!

Happy List
Well today I'm linking up again with Mamarazzi for her Happy List post.
I don't normally post on Saturdays because I don't have Internet at home and I hadn't had the chance to figure out an easy way to do it from my phone. Well this morning I found this app called BlogPress, and that's what I'm using now.
I'm also home, missing my cake class, because I don't feel good and Adam is at work. I really needed to try to get some happy thoughts going.
So here are my Happy Thoughts!
I'm HAPPY that I'm having Velveeta Shells and Cheese for breakfast.
I'm HAPPY that I can watch anything I want on tv ... at least until Adam gets home.
I'm HAPPY that even though my house is a mess, as I stated yesterday, my toilets are clean, my kitchen sick is empty, and my laundry is mostly done.
I'm HAPPY that I decided to go to bed early (6:30) and got to sleep for about 13 hours. REALLY needed it.
I'm HAPPY that I can taste a little better today than I could yesterday.
I'm HAPPY that I have found Mamarazzi's blog (thanks Janette!) and had the chance to find some happiness in this day.

Friday Confessional
I'm gonna give something new a try today! I'm linking up with Mamarazzi and Glamazon to do a Friday confessional. Again not sure if this will be a regular weekly post but I thought it would be fun to give it a try.

I confess ...
Doing these linky posts make me nervous. I'm putting myself out there to people I don't know and inviting them to read my thoughts. But that's the whole point of a blog in the first place. Right? I do love making new friends though so I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone a little.
I confess ...
We have a new puppy. I'm so excited about it but I have total anxiety about him running away or tearing up the neighbors stuff. We live out in the country on lots of land with no fences so there is nothing to make him stay home. We talked to our immediate neighbor yesterday and they love him and don't mind him visiting. I still worry all day that he's in to something. But doesn't he have the sweetest face? He reminds me of those calendars with the big headed / small body animals hehe.
I confess ...
That my house is a mess. Our Christmas tubs are STILL out. Our old mattress (that is still really nice) is in our hall. My dining room table is buried under cake decorating stuff. Sometimes I hate having a small house with no storage. I need to become more of a minimalist.
I confess ...
I'm reading a new book. It's a story that is narrated by Death. As if death was a person and telling me a story. It's pretty awesome in a dark and tragic kind of way. I've never read anything like this. I've come a long way from trashy romance novels (that I still love and read sometimes).
I confess ...
My wall calendar in my office is still showing February. On my desk calendar I mark off each day as it goes by to keep track of where I am and what appointments are coming up for customers. The last time I marked off a day was on 3/16 ... oops. Guess I need to catch up with the world.
I confess ...
I worry too much about what people think. I worry that they will take something I say and make it mean something I didn't mean for it to mean. (That's a lot of means). I have put four or five different confessions in this spot and then removed them because I didn't want someone to take offense. I need to be more brave with my words and get over trying to please everyone.
I confess ...
I really want to go eat Mexican food for lunch. A chicken and cheese quesadilla with refried beans sounds VERY yummy.

Handwriting Analysis
I was recently tagged by my friend Janette to do a handwriting post.
Here are the rules:
The writing assignment:
1) Name
2) Your blog URL
3) Write "a quick brown fox jumped over a lazy dog"
4) Any quote/favorite quote
5) Favorite song
6) Favorite musical artist
7) Write anything you want
8) Tag people !!!
Here is mine:
So now that I've uploaded this I can see how bad and crooked my cursive writing is! Should definately stick to printing HAHA! My handwriting changes from day to day and mood to mood. I've always wondered if I did various samples of my handwriting could an expert tell they were all mine? I can forge other peoples signatures as well... Not that I do, but I can. I can do my mom's and my boss' the best!
So if I tagged you or not let me know if you decide to participate! I love seeing how other people write.

What's Next?
I THINK I'm all caught up on my blog reading. Maybe not commenting but definately on reading.... I HOPE. Unless I just totally missed something LOL.
The past week has been pretty nuts around the office and at home. My boss' daughter got married this past Saturday. Of course since it's just me and her here doing all the primary work, it's fallen more to me the past couple of weeks (or months) while she was in wedding mode. I totally understand and I'm not complaining at all. But my focus has been at work not really on anything else. When I get busy and stressed out at work it bleeds over to my home life. Things have started to slack at home (laundry!) and I'm trying to get everything back under control.
Today for some reason feels like a fresh start. I'm not sure why Monday and Tuesday didn't. Today just feels new. I like that feeling. To me it's one of the best feelings. I love getting a redo and a fresh perspective on life.
But here's where I'm hung up. I have come to realize that all my life there has been something in my future that I'm either working towards or waiting to be over. There has always been some event on the horizon that I needed to get past and overcome. It's been silly things like weddings that I'm involved in some way, planning this or that, some Dr medical procedure coming up, moving out, growing up and getting a job, or even my 5 year bet (Have I talked about this). I always say "Once such and such is over things will be better, different, calmer, we'll have more money, etc etc etc".
Today I'm realizing ... there is nothing. There is nothing in my immediate future that is looming or needs my planning. Please don't take that as depressing as it sounds. I don't mean that my life is meaningless or there is no hope. I just mean that it's a new chapter for me and I obviously need to get some goals planned. It's tempting to just drift on living day to day but when we work towards things it gives us a purpose.
This is all kind of confusing and may not make any sense. What I started out to write is not where I ended up but I usually find all my thoughts in the middle of what I'm trying to say rather than at the beginning. I guess my main point is that although I'm feeling like everything is fresh and new I'm at a point in my life where I need to redefine my purpose. What do I want to do? What will my next year look like? Who will I be in 5 years? 10?
I don't know. I don't have that vision in my head yet.
I'm going to close out this totally random and odd post with a couple of things I'm adding to my 1000 Gifts List:
35. Orange, Red, and Purple sunrises
36. Seeing the person in the car behind you singing the same song as me
37. Dogwoods and Eastern Redbuds
38. A new puppy!

Tribute Tuesday
My friend Janette has started a blog hop called Tribute Tuesday. I'm not sure if this will be a weekly thing for me yet but today I had someone to pay Tribute to and wanted to show my support to my fried. I don't think this exactly fits with the light hearted theme theme but it's what's working for me this week.

Today I would like to pay Tribute to Adam's Grammy.
I've known her for about 12 years but I couldn't say I know her really well. She lives in California so I haven't gotten to see her a lot. Neither has Adam of course. Over these past 12 years though she has become MY Grammy too. I never had a Grammy. I have had a Nana and a Grandma but not a Grammy. Each of those women have been special to me in their own way and it's fitting that they have each had their own name. Grammy is an independant feisty woman that lives on her own. She is not an easy woman to get along with but I always felt special when she praised me for something done right or told me how talented I was at certain things. I really wish we could spend more time with her and know her even more ... Especially Adam. She is his last remaining grandparent.
This past Saturday she fell and broke her hip. During surgery Sunday morning she had a massive stroke and a mild heart attack. They haven't been able to wake her up. Today they are doing an MRI to see how extensive the damage was to her brain and we will know more soon I hope. Adam's mother & sisters flew out to CA this morning to be with her.
So while this is a complete downer of a post and to the blog hop parade I think it accomplishes the same as the light hearted posts. It reminds you to hug your friends, husbands, nana's, grammies or whatever a little tighter and say a few more I love yous.

Sharing With You
Please forgive me for the posting absence and for not properly commenting and reading every one's blog this week. Currently getting caught up. Work and stuff just get in the way sometimes!!
Today I'm going to be sharing a few things with you.
Something I Heard ......
So did anyone else see the Biggest Loser this week? I haven't finished watching it yet but something that was said just struck me as HILARIOUS. Jennifer (I believe it was her) was talking about how the guys from the (former) Red Team would now be training with Bob and Jillian when she said this, "Once they get a taste of what Bob and Jillian are gonna throw at them, I think they are gonna be eating HELLO PIE." This may only be funny to me but it totally cracked me up this morning when I was watching it.
Something I Read ...
We all know I'm obsessed with reading and books in general. It's no secret that I think Twilight, Harry Potter, and the Hunger Games are totally awesome. So when I came across this awesome site I was in heaven. This guy (Mark) decided to review all of these books. CHAPTER BY CHAPTER! I honestly don't know how he only read one chapter per day! I couldn't do it. I found his site via a Hunger Games fan site (because I'm cool like that) and laughed my butt off with every chapter he read of that series and the shock he had from every twist and turn. Now I'm reading his review of the Harry Potter Series and loving it just as much. I'm afraid to read the Twilight because of all the references he has made to totally hating it. So check it out but a WARNING FIRST! He's not a flowery language kind of guy. He freely uses the F word and a few curses that I don't even feel comfortable abbreviating. That said ... if you can look past all that to the humor and awesomeness of his posts you will enjoy it. ANOTHER WARNING! Do not read ANY of these unless you have actually read the series ... Especially Hunger Games. Go buy it (borrow it) today! LIKE NOW!
Mark Reads HARRY POTTER
Mark Reads HUNGER GAMES
Mark Reads TWILIGHT
(There are other books but these are the ones I know)
Something I Will Make ....
I'm joining my friend Janette and gonna try to be crafty and responsible. So leave me a comment saying you would like to participate and I promise that you will have something handmade by me before 12/31/11. ALSO I would like to know which of the three serieses above you have read and liked or didn't like. Simple as HELLO PIE. (Ok so maybe that makes no sense but I HAD to use it somewhere).
(This is also my first EVER giveaway of any kind) (tiny squeels of joy)

Meet Me On Monday

1. Do you have a fireplace in your home?
No but I've always wanted a fireplace. We do have a fire pit outside and we have big bonfires all during the winter.
2. Can you drive a stick shift?
Well I've only tried it once. Adam taught me a little with his sister's car. I did OK but I'm sure with more practice I would have it down.
3. How many computers are in your home?
Just one, but we don't use it. Because we live in the sticks we only have dial-up. It was so frustrating that we ended up just canceling it and our phone line. We do have a laptop but only use it when we are out and can get wifi.
4. Are your taxes done yet? Do you do them yourself?
Yes I do them myself. This is the first year EVER that I've gotten them done before April 1st! When I had my Mary Kay business I always put it off because it was a lot of work. (Mostly because I didn't keep my things organized throughout the year)
5. What is your favorite meal of the day?
Hmm I dunno. I eat leftovers from dinner each day for lunch so the all sorta blend together. HA! I don't eat breakfast food for breakfast except on weekends so I'm all mixed up. Food in general is just good :).

Hodgepodge
Since I'm an iphone EXPERT now ... (HA! Not even close!) ... I thought I would share some of my favorite apps. I'm generally very behind so I'm sure everyone else already as these apps ... but I'm sharing anyways.
Last night I decided to make a cake because Adam was at band practice and I had the house to myself for a few hours. Sure I could have cleaned or folded laundry but cake decorating was more fun :).
I'm really not happy with how the chocolate frosting came out ... looks like poopy brown. Better luck next time though right? It's a 6 inch cake, 4 layers of yellow cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. It tasted really good and Adam liked it. My lines were all over the place and for some reason I had little chunks of frosting that kept clogging the tips and making my lines break. The roses turned out mostly well but I don't think I place them correctly. You can see the gap in the middle. But hey it was like 10pm when I finished this and really should have been in bed way earlier! Well now that I've pointed out all the flaws here it is ...
I really need a less fattening hobby!! I only have had one slice of this cake and I'm not really tempted to eat more but classes are starting up again Saturday!!
Lastly ... I think this is one of those "Only in TX" situations. A guy drove his lawn mower up to the grocery store! Times are tough and gas is high people!
- Words With Friends ~ LOVE IT! This is old news to the app world but I think it's awesome and cool.
- Slingo ~ I LOVED this game back in the day when it was original to AOL (like 2.0 or something). This version is way cooler and totally addicting (FREE)
- My Fitness Pal ~ This is the best diet app out there. I'm saying that and I've never used any other but I haven't found one thing yet I would change. Every food I plug into the diary is already in the database. I didn't have that kind of luck when I was paying $20/month for the Biggest Loser Club. Also you can have friends and share updates about how many pounds you lost. Keeps you accountable. My boss & coworker all have it. (FREE)
- ShoppingList ~ I had the free version of this but upgraded to the paid version when I realized you could add categories, email your list, etc. I have used this on two shopping trip and loved it. ($1.99)
- Alarmed ~ Love having a way to set reminders for myself. I'm very forgetful. (FREE)
- Stickies ~ Sticky Notes for you Lock screen! Another great reminder tool! ($2.99 but was part of a package)

My Gift List
The other day on my post about Goals, one of them was to give thanks every day. Well that is still my goal but I'm revising it. You see, I knew that once I focused my attention on Him things would happen. I've been struggling with a book this past few months called "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp. I'm reading it along with a book club over at incourage. It's really a great book but her style of writing is more like poetry and more difficult to read (for me). I just wasn't making any progress with reading it and kept putting it off over and over. The devil was really working on me.
After writing my goals (a few days before I posted them) I went over to the book club site and watched a few of the videos that the book club is doing with the author. Each week she goes over one chapter and talks about key points, experiences she had, why she wrote something in particular, etc. Once I started watching these the whole book just made sense to me. Now I'm reading it with no problem and LOVING it.
Basically the author was given a dare to write out 1000 blessings or things that she was thankful for. In doing so she really changed her life. She focused on the blessings that God had given her and found more meaning in life. It wasn't about trying to do more and see more but slowing down and really holding each moment up and living in it completely.
So that long explanation is to tell you that this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to write out 1000 things that I love, blessing that I'm thankful for. I didn't realize that I had actually started this list until a couple of days ago. I have a link at the top called "I Love ... " (retitled to 1000 Gifts). That's were I'm going to continue this list. So instead of only focusing on one thing each day I'm officially on a mission to find 1000 things that gifts from God that I'm thankful for.
Anybody want to join me?

Final Project Cake
This past weekend I had to do a final project in my cake decorating class. I had seen an idea for vertical layers at Bakingdom and then from there fround the original tutorial at i am baker. I sat on the idea for a while but thought it was too difficult to try. Then I saw a Rose Cake at i am baker and thought it was gorgeous. I still wasn't up to trying either one. Then I started dreaming about it. Seriously I planned it all out in my dreams, picked colors, and went through the tutorials. I think I'm getting a little obsessed.
SOOOO I did end up making the vertical layer cake with the Buttercream roses as decoration. My instructor was very impressed. She had never seen the roses like this and had never heard of this method of doing layers. I passed on my knowledge and was so happy with the results!!!
Check them out!
I chose pink & white layers with barely some pink color to the roses. It turned out exactly like my dream.
Close up of one of the roses. Too me it looks like a heavy fabric.
I'm so excited with how this is all going. My next class on flowers starts March 12th, then I'll have my final class in April over Fondent. There is an ultimate kit that you can buy rather than buying individual things for each class. It comes out cheaper but I really didn't have the $130 to buy it. Well yesterday our bookkeeper for our office came by and informed me that social security withholdings (for payroll) had changed 1/1/11. So I had been taking out an extra 2% than I needed to. My boss had to refund a little over $100. So now I'm going to put this money towards my kit! I'm so excited!
BTW ~ I'm really sick of cake! HA! At least the next class we only have to make one cake and that's for the final project.

Top shot of the roses.
I had to make two cakes (one pink & one white) so I ended up with two complete cakes. My boss said she would take the other and I did just the plain white roses on hers. Wouldn't this look beautiful as a wedding cake?

Goals, Review and New
February Review
1. Organize my junk e-mail account (or cancel it and work on my work email) Still working on this. This may be a yearly goal because it's taking me forever!
2.Set up a system for a new project that I'm working on at work. Mostly done
3.Purging magazines and taking out articles that I want to save. Set up filing system for these articles. The filing is set up and I've gone through half of the magazines
4.Attend Cake Decorating class each Saturday this month with my mom (SUPER EXCITED) Done! Had such a great time. Next class starts in 2 weeks!!
5.FINALLY get an iPhone 4 on the 26th!! DONE! Absolutely love it! I'm kicking myself for not getting one 2 years ago when the 3G came out.
6.Celebrate a TON of birthdays this month - My MIL, step-sister, a friend, a friend's daughter, another friend, my baby girl Lexi turns 3, and MY BIRTHDAY! We had a great month of birthdays!!
~*~*~*~*~*~
March Goals / Plans
1. Continue working to clean up my emails.
2. Celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary on the 10th.
3. Attend my second cake class this month.
4. Attend a wedding for my boss' daughter on the 19th in Dallas. Can't wait!
5. See Red Riding Hood in theaters after it premiers. (The book is awesome - more on that later)
6. My big goal for the month is to figure out a new routine at work. I have been so overwhelmed and stressed out at work recently. I need to simplify and figure out how to run this office in a more organized manner. (Hiring a secretary is out unfortuantely).
7. Another big goal for the month is to list one thing each day that I'm thankful for. I think a lot of the stress in my life is coming from the fact that I haven't spending enough time with God. I haven't been praying and giving thanks like I should. I think once I fix this in my life things will get better. I will probably post this on twitter because that's just easier but I'll try to transfer them here (maybe).
